What is a donor-advised fund? A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably inclined individuals, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock, and, in some cases, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

“My husband and I started our DAF when we got married six years ago. Philanthropy was important to both of us and we wanted to ensure we could maximize our giving dollars. Since then we have seen significant growth in our investments which has allowed us to steadily give to the organizations close to our heart and in the future will enable us to fund a steady stream of generous gifts and create a legacy for our family.”
